Root Canal

A root canal treatment saves a severely injured, cracked, or decayed tooth.

When the soft inner tissue of a tooth (known as the “pulp”) becomes infected, it gets inflamed and swollen. If it’s not treated properly or on time, pain or tooth abscess results.

Toothache, tooth sensitivity, tenderness to the touch, heat sensitivity — all of these can be signs of a serious infection in your mouth.

More specifically, it can be a sign of infection inside a tooth.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjEFSV39jHE”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1561421591497{padding-top: 10px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Microscope Enhanced Dentistry

All root canals and several treatments are done with a Global Digital Microscope to precisely perform all dental procedures.

This not only improves the quality of dentistry but also improves the efficiency of treatment.

Most treatments are finished within one single session, that can last anywhere from 40 minutes to 60 minutes.

After you finish your root canal, is possible that you may require a tooth crown, this can be done in two hours.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1561232266085{padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

When Do You Need a Root Canal?

A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed at Smile Builders or any other dental office.

It removes the infected pulp from the inside of the tooth and fills the gap with a special rubber material. This maintains the integrity of the tooth and prevents reinfection.

Removing the infected tooth pulp restores the health and function of the tooth, and ultimately treats the pain that leads you to the dentist in the first place.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1561421477390{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Root Canal Pain Symptoms

See our dentist in Tijuana if you experience any of these symptoms:

  • Tooth or gum pain, discoloration, or sensitivity to heat or cold.
  • A tooth that is tender when it is touched.
  • A tooth abscess (pus enclosed in the tissues of the jawbone at the tip of an infected tooth).
  • Pus drainage in your mouth.
  • Swelling or tenderness in the lymph nodes under your jaw.

Sometimes an endodontic problem can exist without warning signs.

In these cases, digital x-rays or a 3D CT scan can be taken during a routine dental checkup, will reveal the tooth damage.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3370″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1561419284500{padding-top: 70px !important;padding-bottom: 70px !important;padding-left: 50px !important;background-image: url(http://new.smilebuilders.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/smile-builders_crowns_05.jpg?id=3029) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1536024675040{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

Root Canal Process

To get to the inside of the tooth, a small hole is drilled through the enamel.

Some local anesthetic is used to make this as comfortable for the patient as possible.

Once the inner pulp is exposed, our dentist will use special tools to carefully remove the infected material.

Depending on the tooth and the severity of the infection, this may take 1 or 2 visits to fully remove the pulp.

After the pulp chamber is empty, it’s filled with a composite filling or tooth crown is used to seal the hole drilled into the tooth.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3449″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1561420948616{padding-top: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Do You Need a Crown After Root Canal Treatment?

A crown is indicated to restore a tooth for the following situations:

  • A cavity that is too large for a filling.
  • Missing tooth and need a bridge.
  • Cover a dental implant.
  • Had root canal treatment—the crown will protect the restored tooth.
  • Want to cover a discolored or badly shaped tooth and improve your smile!

Before undergoing any cosmetic dentistry procedure, it is important that you have healthy teeth and gums. However, after necessary restorative treatment, you may still be able to receive porcelain veneers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1561420948616{padding-top: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][rev_slider_vc alias=”crowns”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1560992018188{margin-top: 0px !important;margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-top-width: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]
